The main drive behind my work is the urge to create paintings that combine my Afro-Cuban heritage with elements that are tied to the process of dancing. The religious ceremonies and landscapes that surrounded me growing up in Cuba provide much of the inspiration for my work. Furthermore, my use of bright colors is tied to my development as a modern and an Afro-Cuban dancer from the Caribbean. My painting compositions evolve in the same way as my choreographies using line, form, and color to create the movement that I desire.
